About
Hi, I'm Jessica! I’m the author of five books, including The Long Night and 365 Days of Peace, which I wrote directly into Twitter as daily benedictions. My essays have been featured in places like Sojourners and the Madeleine L’Engle blog, and my poetry has been quoted on Glennon Doyle’s podcast, We Can Do Hard Things. I currently work as an editor and social media manager while composing a poetry book for kids and a speculative novel about the end of the world.
In 2016 I went viral for an essay, Bake For Them Two, in which I argued, earnestly, that Jesus would bake cakes for gay weddings. In 2020 I hosted a Thanksgiving gathering on Twitter attended by thousands, drawing in guests (literally, as stick figures) who couldn’t make it home because of the pandemic. In other accolades, Lin-Manuel Miranda once told me that I made his day and I, being autistic, believe that this was not in any way hyperbole. He may have had bad days before and since, but that one day of Lin's life was made by me.
